Getting Along with your Period

It's that time of the month again and you are far from happy about it. The cramps, the time taken out of your day changing pads and tampons, worrying about leaking, ruined underwear and clothes if you

do leak and the mood swings. The inconveniences of those 3 to 7 days are a pain in the uterus. So I've compiled a list of helpful tips to make that week a little more bearable and less terrible.

1. Period Underwear

I cannot rave about these enough! They are underwear that not only protects you from leaks but they can even be used in place of pads and tampons all together. So no more ruined underwear or clothes and no more having to constantly worry you are leaking. Thinx is an amazing brand and so is EvaWear off Amazon.

2. Heating Pads

I'm not a fan of taking pills like Midol or Tylenol so I use Therapearl

heating pads instead. They are easy to use, you just stick them in the microwave and go. They retain their heat for a decent amount of time and aren't bulky or force you to be attached to a plug in the wall. I prefer the one made for the back because it is a wide and has strip of velcro to wrap around you so it stays in place.

3. Menstrual cups

Although these take some practice to figure out they are very convenient when you do. Instead of toting around tampons (that you have no clue what the ingredients are in them) you just put the cup in and go. They are medical grade silicone so they don't have any irritating ingredients and are sanitary if used correctly. You can also wear these longer than tampons without the risk of Toxic Shock Syndrome.

4. Light Exercise

Instead of staying curled up in a ball on your couch get up and move! Light exercise and stretching can help alleviate some of the discomfort from cramps. Plus exercising is a mood booster so you can't beat it.

Hopefully these tips make your period more tolerable and less likely to slow you down. Stay beautiful my wonderful readers!
