Battle of the Baby Carriers

As a mom of three I have tried a lot of different baby carriers in hopes of finding the perfect one. My top three are the Ergo, Moby Wrap

and the Baby K'tan. I wanted to give a list of pros and cons to each of them so hopefully other moms out there will find their perfect carrier the first time around.
1. Ergo Baby Carrier
Pros: This carrier offers amazing back support for mom and can easily carry babies and toddlers in the upper weight range without making them feel too heavy because of how this carrier disperses the weight. The zipper pocket in the front is great for putting phones, keys, credit cards, pacifiers and even an extra diaper inside. I loved this feature with my toddler because it enabled me to not have to carry around a diaper bag.
Cons: This carrier is very bulky. It's hard to put inside of a diaper bag for transport if needed. Although it works amazing for older babies and tots, it's a bit difficult to use with small babies. There is a newborn insert you can purchase for this carrier for smaller babies but it adds to the bulk of the carrier.
2. Moby Wrap
Pros: Like the Ergo, it disperses weight amazingly. Your baby will feel nice and snug against you and this makes it great for skin on skin and kangaroo care. There are many different positions you can carry your baby in with this carrier and it evolves to nearly any size baby. I had newborns on the smaller side (5-6 pounds) and they still fit perfectly. I even carry around my 24 pound toddler in it periodically and it still works great. This Carrier also rolls up tightly and is able to easily fit in diaper bags.
Cons: Figuring out how to wrap it takes time. It also takes more time to put on, even when you know how to, compared to the Ergo carrier. This wrap also has a tendency to get very hot if you live in a warmer climate like I do. I opt to only use this carrier in the winter months because of this factor.
3. Baby K'tan
Pros: It's lightweight and compact. It has a pocket on the front piece that you can put an extra diaper in if needed. This Wrap also folds itself into the pocket for storage. It's small enough to put in a diaper bag. It's quick to put on since it is already pre-wrapped and comes sized the same as your shirts. It's excellent for skin to skin and kangaroo care. It's also a multi position carrier.
Cons: Although this wrap works amazingly well for smaller babies through around 6 months old, older babies and toddlers feel very heavy in this carrier. The weight isn't as well dispersed as the Ergo or Moby. However, because of the speed and compact features of this carrier, I normally opt to use this one on short outings even though my youngest baby is now a bit heavier.
I hope my first hand experience with these carriers will help you mamas out there trying to figure out which Carrier to get. There is so much baby gear out there it can become daunting trying to decide on it all. Depending on what you are looking for in a Carrier I hope this list simplifies your decision. Keep being amazing Mamas!
