Marriage vs Technology

We all know money and trust issues can kill a marriage. But we don't really think about what negative effect social media, computers and phones can have on one of our most cherished relationships. We put a lot of time and effort into our modern technological advances. Spending hours on social media making sure you have that perfect selfie can slyly take presedence over our time spent with our spouse. Video games can suck us in and make us lose track of time. Before you know it your spouse and you are on two separate pages and turn more into roommates than lifelong partners.

This can be detrimental to a marriage. Without the connection and closeness marriages start failing. You slowly start to ignore each other,

go to bed at different times and lose all intimacy. So what do you do when you see your marriage slipping away because of technology? You fight for it.

I don't mean have a screaming match with your spouse, I mean take steps to make your marriage more important than the screen you and/or your spouse are staring at. Put down the phones and get to know each other again. Schedule time together uninterrupted by phones and computers. Go outside and take a walk together. Do things that are simple and fun with each other. Make this a point to do on a weekly basis to keep your marriage healthy.

Make it a point to go to bed together and make time for intimacy. Get creative and find new ways to feel close to your spouse. Don't just turn away and lose all the closeness and love you've built together because of something so trivial. Make time to communicate. Dont decide not to talk to your spouse because there will be time later. If you keep shoving it off to the side there won't be anymore time left.

So fight for your marriage to be important again. Take steps to make sure it stays that way. Do not become another couple that's drifted away from each other because of something that could be prevented. Sometimes marriage can get in a rut and feel a little boring but it's up to you as partners to spice it up and make it fun again instead of just giving up. So don't let technology own your marriage! Take ownership of your marriage back! Stay amazing my wonderful readers and fight for love.
